The document you attached as the responsive record is just one page that says ““Follow Up with DFAS...” over and over again. That is not what my FOIA request asked for. Will I be receiving other records besides this one?

There were two pages of responsive documents that were part of your request, one page was sent to you and the other page was redacted and sent to the Initial Denial Authority (IDA) for their review, final release determination and direct response to you. The IDA information was sent to you in our final letter. Our office is unable to release any records that have been redacted, therefore you should be hearing from the IDA.

We reviewed your case and determined that West Point Military Academy is not the repository for all the documents you seek. The Resource Management Office can only retrieve 6 months of current debts after electronically processing them through Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). DFAS establishes the debt for collection and directly communicates debt instructions to former Cadets. For a more comprehensive response to your request you should resubmit a new FOIA request to the following agency:

An index of outstanding debts owed to the United State Military Academy by former cadets who left or were otherwise discharged from the Academy. The existence of these debts has been widely reported in the news media:

The index should include, for each outstanding debt, the amount, its repayment status, and the name of the debtor.
This request is being submitted solely under the Freedom of Information Act, not the Privacy Act. Please redact any information that would require a Privacy Act waiver to release.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
