To Whom It May Concern:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
I am writing to request copies of documents pertaining to the 2017 and 2018 closure of Peace Corps regional houses (also known as "transit houses") in Senegal, West Africa, as well as overarching discussions about regional house/transit house closures throughout all countries in which Peace Corps is currently active and uses such houses. This includes, but is not limited to, documents discussing the matter that were created by Peace Corps Senegal, Peace Corps Washington (HQ), and Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and/or other entities involved in the decision to close these houses. The scope of these documents would include, but is not limited to, discussions about the reasoning behind closing these houses, including budgetary concerns, volunteer behavior, and appropriate use of government funds.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Dear Juliana Peluso,
This serves as acknowledgement of your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request which has been assigned tracking number 18-0041.
This request is assigned to Candice Allgaier, you will receive a response within 20 business days. If you have any questions, please contact Candice at (202) 692-1904 or FOIA@peacecorps.gov<mailto:FOIA@peacecorps.gov>.
My name is Chris Fontanesi and I am the acting FOIA officer for the Office of Inspector General. The agency forwarded your below FOIA request for processing. For reference, your request has been assigned the reference number OIG 18-009.
Would it be possible to set up a time to talk regarding your request? While your request names the Office of Inspector General, it does so in relation to the agency decision to close transit houses. OIG is independent from the agency decision-making process and I would need additional information about what you are looking for in order to process your request.
