Hello,

My Freedom of Information request (assigned case #79533) for "A copy of all emails to or from employees of the National Security Agency which contain the word "Apple" or "Google" in the subject field and were sent between August 1, 2014 and the date this request is processed" was rejected for being too vague and burdensome. I would like to revise my request to the following:

A copy of all emails to or from employees of the Cryptanalysis and Exploitation Division of the National Security Agency which contain the word "Apple" or "Google" in the subject field and were sent between August 1, 2014 and the date this request is processed. The information that I am seeking pertains to concerns from the intelligence community about the use of default encryption in Google and Apple (iOS 8) smartphones, announced in September 2014. For context, see: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/25/james-comey-apple-encryption_n_5882874.html

If you require that my request be further narrowed, do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Evan
