To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all files, reports, background information, memos, directives, investigatory materials, communications, as well as any other attachments and relevant materials regarding Alan N. Hall (Born: March 1st, 1923; Deceased: March 31st, 1997). Please include all materials gathered in reference to him during his lifetime and posthumously, including all materials in any tangential or cross-reference databases (active or defunct) or ELSUR indexes, in addition to those materials found in the Central Records System.

He served in Cyprus from 1949 to 1951 and in Greece from 1953 to 1963. He served in Saigon in what was then South Vietnam from 1967 to 1969 and was awarded the agency's Certificate of Distinction for his work during the 1968 Tet Offensive. He was stationed in the Washington area when he retired. After that, he did research on the history of Hoover Field, Washington's early commercial airport near the Pentagon. (National Airport opened in the early 1940s.) He also participated in symposiums at the Smithsonian Institution's Air & Space Museum." Beginning in December of 1978, Hall also became the president of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP).

Dear FBI FOIA Public Liaison:

This is regarding FOIPA Request No.: 1425813-000 // Subject: HALL, ALAN N.

After a phone call with your office earlier today, I was told that the last communication you sent was on 01/30/2019 announcing the bureau's intention to close this request because any of the documents that might have been pertinent to it were destroyed. The FBI FOIA Public Liaison I spoke with today said that you would mail a copy of this letter, but if you could also simply send it as an attachment in reply to this email, that would be very helpful.

Best Regards,
Matthew Phelan
