To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

(1) All maps produced between June 2006 and June 2017 of Guantanamo Bay, GiTMO.

(2) A color copy of the map that hangs in the office of the Assistant Fire Chief in the GiTMO Fire Station. The map was released in June 2006. It is comprehensive insofar as it includes both sides of the U.S. Naval Station and granular insofar as it is possible to see street names.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. I am a member of the news media and request classification as such. I have previously written about GiTMO, the U.S. government, and information access at U.S. naval facilities for Slate, How We Get to Next, the Massachusetts Review, and others. My articles have been widely read, with some reaching over 50,000 readers. As such, as I have a reasonable expectation of publication and my editorial and writing skills are well established. Additionally, I wrote my M.A. thesis on the Guantanamo Bay Detainee Library and continue to expand on that research in a series of longform pieces.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Muira McCammon

Good afternoon Muira,

This email is in reference to the attached FOIA Request. There are approximately 100 maps that may be sensitive information and cannot be released. That may be 10 USC 445 and 10 USC 130e.

Please narrow or clarify your request because it is a long time period that you are requesting. Your FOIA has been placed in the News Media category. That means you pay duplication fee only.

Please let me know if you would like for us to proceed in responding to the FOIA Request. Thank you

Good afternoon,

You have not identified exactly what maps you are requesting. As stated there are over 100 or more maps at Guantanamo Bay Cuba. Are you looking for a particular map? Please narrow your request to a particular area or the map that is hangs in the office of the Assistant Fire Chief in the GITMO Fire Station. Thank you
