From: National Archives And Records Administration – Archival Or Special Access

Dear R. M. Seibert,

This is in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated
March 9, 2019 for records in the custody of the National Archives and
Records Administration (NARA). You requested access to the folder labeled
[Caruso, Ken and Bucknam, Robert] Church of Scientology located in box 4
within entry P3 Subject Files of the Special Assistants to the Associate
Attorney General, 1/1981 – 6/1983 in Record Group 60: General Records of
the Department of Justice. Your request was received in this office on
March 11, 2019 and assigned FOIA case number *RD 60671*.

We located and surveyed the folder labeled [Caruso, Ken and Bucknam,
Robert] Church of Scientology. The folder contains 46 pages regarding the
Church of Scientology. The documents are dated from 1981.

The folder that you requested as well as all of the other folders in the
box required screening for categories of information exempted from
disclosure under the FOIA. All of the folders in the box including the
folder labeled [Caruso, Ken and Bucknam, Robert] Church of Scientology were
previously reviewed under the terms of the FOIA (5 USC 552). There are no
restrictions on access to any of the folders in the box so they are open
and available for research use.

You or your designated representative may view box 4 in Room 2000, the
reading room operated by the Textual Reference Branch at our College Park
facility. You may request the box in Room 2000 upon your arrival at our
College Park facility.

If you are unable to schedule a visit to our College Park facility, the
standard rate for reproduction orders is $0.80 per page regardless of
format. Please contact the Textual Reference Branch at Archives II if you
would like to place an order. To make arrangements, you may contact the
Textual Reference Branch at Archives II via email at
archives2reference@nara.gov or write to them at National Archives and
Records Administration, Textual Reference Archives II Branch (RDT2), 8601
Adelphi Rd, College Park, MD 20740-6001.

This concludes the processing of your request in this office. If you have
additional questions concerning our review, please contact me directly via
email at jennifer.namsiriwan@nara.gov.
