This is in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated
February 12, 2019 for records in the custody of the National Archives and
Records Administration (NARA). You requested access to the folder labeled
[Richardson, John N. Jr.] Church of Scientology located in box 345 within
entry P78 Subject Files Assistants to the Attorney General, 1974 – 1994 in
Record Group 60: General Records of the Department of Justice. Your
request was received in this office on February 13, 2019 and assigned FOIA
case number *RD 60453*.
We located and surveyed the folder labeled [Richardson, John N. Jr.] Church
of Scientology. The folder contains 2 pages regarding Iran. The documents
are dated from June 1986.
The folder required screening for categories of information exempted from
disclosure under the FOIA and as such we reviewed the folder. As reviewed
under the terms of the FOIA (5 USC 552), there are no restrictions on
access and the folder is now open and available for research use.
We have attached a copy of the documents in the folder to this
correspondence for your convenience.
