From: Andrew Perez
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
I am seeking records of all service members charged under Article 134, paragraph 68b of the U.S. Code of Military Justice (child pornography), to include the following for the last 10 fiscal years:
*** Name and rank of service member;
*** Base assigned where charges were brought;
*** Date of charges filed against service member; and
*** Disposition of case (dismissed, pleaded, court-martialed, convicted/exonerated)
To help determine my status to assess fees, you should know that I am a representative of the news media affiliated with MapLight, and this request is made as part of news gathering and not for commercial use.
I request a waiver of all fees for this request. Disclosure of the requested information to me is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the military justice system and is not primarily in my commercial interest.
I ask that the information be made available to me in an electronic format.
Finally, I ask that this data be provided to me in an expedited fashion because of the compelling need to determine the size and scope of a problem that affects the youngest and most vulnerable people in our country. There are few higher priorities for our nation than the health and safety of children.
I may be reached at 202.509.3681 if you would like to discuss any aspect of my request. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Thank you,
Frank Bass
