To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

FBI records of surveillance or an mention in FBI files of actress Mildred Dunnock in the 1950's.
Mildred Dunnock was an American actress who worked extensively on Broadway and Hollywood. She had numerous associations with creative figures including Paul Robeson, Arthur Miller, and Elia Kazan, who were all subject of the McCarthy blacklist in the 1950's. She was briefly blacklisted when her name was mentioned as a "fellow traveler" in the McCarthy newsletter "Red Channels" on January 4 1952. Due to intercession of her husband, Keith Urmy, a banker and navy officer, a correction was made in Red Channels January 18 1952, but her career suffered. I am interested in any correspondence between Keith Urmy or Mildred Dunnock with any FBI office, or any internal FBI documents that mention of Dunnock in the context of her relationships with Robeson, Miller, Kazan, or other blacklisted cultural figures.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Daniel Dunnock mcGuire
