Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
On behalf of the #DetentionKills project on Al Otro Lado, I hereby request:
1. all records created by the DHS FOIA-Privacy Office in response to FOIA request 2019-01265, which the Department acknowledged receiving in September 2019 and allegedly tasked components for searching in October 2019.
2. Any written policy or procedure substantiating Senior FOIA Specialist Maura Bausch’s statement that information about the processing of this request could only be conveyed by phone — and not in writing
3. All records of communication regarding any follow-up by the DHS FOIA office with the requestor regarding this request.
4. Any record reflecting DHS efforts to clear its backlog through the processing of this request in the ordinary course of its operations.
5. Any tasker from the DHS FOIA Office to any federal agency component pertaining to this request - 2019-01265.
Because the Department is currently breaking the law and violating the requestor’s due process rights in its handling of the 2019 Waldman Family Separation Comms request, and because these records pertain to the court-recognized violation of rights of separated parents and children which fall in the hierarchy of genocidal acts nation-states engage in, and because this particular official’s role in the family separation crimes committed has been the subject of significant media attention and public interest, I respectfully request expedited processing of this request and certify under 28 USC 1746 that the foregoing statements of fact are true and correct.
An adequate search will task all FOIA processors, including Maura, and their records of communication regarding this request.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
