This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

Memorandum from Solicitor General Charles Fried to Office of the Solicitor General attorneys dated October 2, 1987.

This memorandum addresses the use of "caselaw" in Solicitor General briefs. It calls for "total extirpation" of the "barbarism" of "caselaw," and recommends using "case law" instead.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
