To Whom It May Concern:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
All correspondence from July 1, 2016 through August 20, 2016, including emails and official statements, between the Fort Hood Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (MEDCEN), and reporter David Bryant (dbryant@kdhnews.com) or other staff of the publication "Fort Hood Herald", related to mefloquine.
As background, on August 20, 2016, the Herald published a story (available at: http://kdhnews.com/fort_hood_herald/data-malaria-pill-could-cause-permanent-ptsd-like-symptoms/article_e7669bda-672d-11e6-b399-cfb06264e259.html) that noted: "the Herald requested information from Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center on how often the drug was prescribed to deploying soldiers and the likelihood of those soldiers developing long-term symptoms similar to PTSD. Due to the nature of the questions, the hospital referred them to Army Medical Command public affairs".
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Dr. Remington Nevin
