To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

1. All responsive documents related to NSA agents, staff, and employees found to have intentionally used technology resources and intelligence privileges to eavesdrop on and/or surveil love interests, first dates, spouses, partners, exes, friends, etc. between 1/1/2011 and the present date. Please make sure to include any documents related to administrative or disciplinary actions taken in those situations.

- The NSA refers to this type of activity as "LOVEINT," or "love intelligence." For clarification about the specific type of activity I am referring to, please refer to the following article:

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and may be used in future journalism efforts that are not primarily commercial in nature. However, the requested information may also be used in fine art projects for profit, which may be considered commercial.

I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment to this email address only if available, or CD-ROM if not.

Disclosure of the requested information to me is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the operations or activities of the government. Because of this, I request a waiver of all fees.
If a fee waiver is not granted, I am willing to pay up to $25 for the requested information. If the fee for this request exceeds this amount, please notify me in writing prior to beginning work on the request.

I am following up on FOIA Case: 112711, which was submitted to your agency on Aug. 31, 2021. On Sept. 27, 2021, I received an acknowledgment letter from your agency but have not received any response or responsive documents since then.

From: National Security Agency

Dear Erin Marie Miller:
We received your inquiry for a status update on your case (112711). The NSA Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA) divison treats all FOIA and PA requesters fairly by responding to each on a first-in, first-out basis in accordance with federal regulations. Each request is unique; as such, there is no set timeframe for this process.
Your case is assigned to an initial processing case officer and the search for responsive documents is in progress for this request. A letter will be sent from the NSA FOIA/PA division once the search is complete. Please be advised that each case that has responsive records goes through three levels of review prior to the final response. The length of review in each phase depends on many factors, such as the number of pages and classification level.
