To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

All records, files, photographs, evaluations, and related materials regarding Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Ruwet [please see attached newspaper obituary]. Please consult all possible cross-reference indices.

I also request that fees be waived as this request is being submitted by a member of the news media as part of a journalistic investigation and fulfillment of this request is in the public interest. The documents requested are a vital component of an ongoing inquiry into the operations of the United States government. In addition to undergoing analysis and contextualization by a representative of the news media/press, the materials will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com; the news sources provided by MuckRock are easily accessible and guarded against the temporality that limits the effectiveness of dissemination provided by television, radio, and other transient means of broadcast. This request is made in the process of news gathering; it is not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Beryl C.D. Lipton

To Whom It May Concern:

The FOIA request copied below was initially submitted to your office on June 24, 2015. Confirmation of receipt and an estimated date of completion would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You requested military information on this man. You stated that you
included an obituary, but it did not arrive at my desk.

To identify a record, we need the following information:-
--Full name of veteran
--Branch of service (Army, Navy, etc.)
--Dates of service (t least to the approximate years)
--Social Security number (the full number)
--Service number (for veterans who served before 1970)

Also helpful are:-
--Date of birth
--Place of birth

If you don't have all the information listed above, send what you have and
we'll see what we can do. Please understand, however, that we have over 70
million records at this center, so we can easily have hundreds of veterans
with the same name. We do not have the manpower to check every possible
record by hand.
