This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

* Copies of any subpoenas, formal and informal requests, or NSLs sent requesting journalists' phone, email, or other communication records, whether sent to the journalists directly, to news organizations, or to telephone, Internet Service Provider, or other electronic communications companies (i.e., Yahoo!, Google, Facebook, Twitter) that may have hosted or helped transact such communications.
* Copies of any internal policies and procedures governing or directing such requests and the policies surrounding the use of such requested data.
* Copies of any memorandum sent to or from the Attorney General's office regarding such requests, including any legal opinions and memos as well as any directives from the AG's office on the aforementioned types of requests.
* Copies of any legal memos generated by Justice Department lawyers regarding the legality and procedures for requesting journalist communications.
* Copies of communications between the Associated Press, Fox News, and other news organizations and the Justice Department regarding the monitoring or capture of communications of their journalists by the Justice Department, including any agreements, complaints, or notifications sent or received by the Justice Department.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
