Documents describing incidents, statistics, or concerns about "juice jacking," the practice of using cell phone charging as a cyberattack vector, produced since January 1, 2019. In late 2019, both the FCC and L.A. County D.A.'s office issued warnings about "juice jacking."

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

In late 2019, both the FCC and L.A. County D.A.'s office issued warnings about "juice jacking" (Date Range for Record Search: From 1/1/2019 To 1/23/2019). While processing your request, the Privacy Office determinedthat the records being sought likely fall under the purview of CISA. Accordingly,your request was referred to this office on January 23, 2020 for review anddirect response to you. Dueto the increasing number of FOIA requests received by this office, we mayencounter some delay in processing your request. Per Section 5.5(a) of the DHSFOIA regulations, 6 C.F.R. Part 5, CISA processes FOIA requests according totheir order of receipt. Although CISA’s goal is to respond within 20 businessdays of receipt of your request, the FOIA does permit a 10- day extension ofthis time period. As your request seeks numerous documents that willnecessitate a thorough and wide-ranging search, CISA will invoke a 10-dayextension for your request, as allowed by Title 5 U.S.C. § 552(a)(6)(B). If youcare to narrow the scope of your request, please contact our office. We willmake every effort to comply with your request in a timely manner. Provisions of the FOIA allow us torecover part of the cost of complying with your request.  We shall charge youfor records in accordance with the DHS FOIA regulations, as they apply tomedia requesters.  As a media requester, you will be charged 10 cents perpage for duplication; the first 100 pages are free.  We will construe thesubmission of your request as an agreement to pay up to $25.00.
