Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552. I am requesting access to records maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding the John Birch Society. Specifically, I am seeking any records, reports, or other documents related to the John Birch Society that have been created or maintained by the FBI.
To assist you in processing this request, I am providing the following information:
• The John Birch Society is a political advocacy group that was founded in 1958.
• The John Birch Society has been the subject of controversy over the years, and has been accused of promoting extremist views and conspiracy theories.
• I am requesting any records, reports, or other documents related to the John Birch Society that have been created or maintained by the FBI, including but not limited to:
Any files or documents related to the organization's activities or members
Any reports or investigations conducted by the FBI regarding the organization
Any correspondence between the FBI and the John Birch Society or its members
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
