This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

The Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) including all Fitness Report and Counseling forms (NAVPERS Form 1610/2), the most recent Cumulative Record Of Training (NAVPERS Form 5300/16), the Background Summary (NAVPERS Form 1640/32), Officer Personnel Action Requests (NAVPERS Form 1301/85) and Form DD-214, for Lieut (USN Reserve) James William Ferguson, Service # 347275

Born February 21, 1922
Died January 31, 1953 at sea

-He was a test pilot who died at sea in a crash taking off on the USS Midway CVA 41.
-10 active years of duty listed on his Death Certificate
-He had recently acquired his photography license, and in his letters home he mentioned Turkey and Spain

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
