Good morning,

This email is to acknowledge receipt of your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request received on March 1, 2021 to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), in which you requested:

"Any and all information from U.S. Representative and former U.S. Marine [name omitted] (Born January 29th
1988) official military personnel file including but not limited to:
Service Number
Dates of Service
Branch of Service
Final Duty Status
Final Rank
Salary
Assignments and Geographical Locations Including The Dates Of Assignments
Source of Commission
Military Education Level
Promotion Sequence Number
Awards and decorations
Photograph
Transcript of Courts-Martial Trials
Place of entrance and separation".

The FOIA Service received your request on March 1, 2021.

The VA does not routinely maintain military service (or military medical) records. The VA only maintains records of recently discharged Veterans and Veterans who are receiving VA benefits. Veterans (or next of kin of a deceased Veteran), may use eVetRecs for requesting most military service records: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/

For all others, your request is best made using the Standard Form (SF 180). Notice: If you use the SF 180, read it carefully. The location of military records depends upon the branch of military service and the date of separation; the form will specify where you need to send the form. If you have questions about how to complete, or where to mail the SF 180, please contact the following offices:

National Personnel Records Center: (314) 801-0800
National Archives & Records Administration: 1-866-272-6272

The National Personnel Records Center contact information is:

National Personnel Records Center
Military Personnel Records
1 Archives Drive
St. Louis, MO 63138-1002
Fax: (314) 801-9195
Email: MPR.center@nara.gov

This concludes the FOIA Service's response to your request and we will close your case. We appreciate your interest in the Department of Veterans Affairs. If you have any further questions concerning this email, please contact me at (202) 322-3652.

Thank you,
