Dear FOIA Officer:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

All records in the case file for an IG investigation, including all complaints and interviews, which resulted in Report Number: 18-0700, "BLM Official Allegedly Abused Travel and Government Vehicle." The investigation is referred to in Principal Assistant Secretary Casey Hammond's letter of dismissal to the official in question, director of law enforcement and security at BLM, William Woody: https://www.eenews.net/assets/2019/06/19/document_gw_06.pdf.

Given that Mr. Woody's identity as the subject of this investigation is already a matter of public record, not only because of the above-referenced letter, but also in the news stories cited below, I ask that you refrain from redacting Mr. Woody's name. If you must redact other names, I ask that, in furtherance of maintaining the readability of the records, you assign each redacted name a letter or a number and use the assigned number in place of the redactions.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

As a freelance journalist, I expect to be placed in your news media category. As evidence of my publication record, here are links to some of my articles:

Furthermore, I request a fee waver on the grounds that this information is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the operations and activities of the government—i.e., the reasons for the removal of a top federal law enforcement official—and I am not making this request for commercial purposes.

However, if you do require fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me if the total charges exceed $25.

I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,

Maraya Cornell
