Internal usage of emoticons

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

A count of how many times emoticons have been used in internal documents and correspondence in total each year, for the past ten years. Please display the result as two columns, the first being a list of years, the second being the emoticon count for that year. Additional columns to show counts for each kind of emoticon are encouraged, but not required.

An emoticon can be defined as one of the following expressions: ":)", ":-)", ";)", ";-)", ":(", ":-("

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

- Please identify whether your category type request is being made as a commercial user, member of the news media, seeking records for appropriate educational or scientific institution use or as an “other” requester.

I am an "other" requester, seeking this information for personal research.

I would like to amend my request as follows: please send me each respective page of any document that contains an emoticon.
