To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

In recent months, there has been increased discussion about the potential for a nuclear attack on the Hawaiian Islands (http://www.staradvertiser.com/2017/04/10/hawaii-news/specialists-think-north-korea-is-nuclear-threat/?HSA=9dd9a29e947232aee86522159d9e3ff216f58158). However, no public-facing emergency guidelines exist to inform the public about what to do in the event of a nuclear attack. Many states make this information available, but Hawaii seems to either have none, or has not made these records accessible to the public.

### REQUEST ###

I hereby request the following records:

Copies of all evacuation plans and preparedness guidelines for the event of a nuclear attack on Hawaii. Please include all photo, audio, and video attachments, if relevant.

In order to help to determine my status to assess fees, you should know that I am a journalist writing for Motherboard, VICE's technology and science site, and that this request is being made as part of news gathering.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. They will be used in the course of my reporting for Motherboard (www.motherboard.vice.com).

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request, and I ask that this be processed in the "media" fee category. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
