Freedom of Information Request: Joseph C. Stanko, Jr. communications

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). On behalf of the Climate Investigations Center (CIC), a national non-profit association of advocates, bloggers and researchers, I hereby request the following records:

1. Communications, records, or documents exchanged between staff of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Joseph C. Stanko, Jr., lobbyist of Hunton & Williams LLP since January 1, 2017 until present;
2. Communications, records, or documents received or sent by staff of the EPA related to the 10/19/2017 Hunton & Williams LLP Lobbying Disclosure form (attached) containing the following terms: "motor vehicle fuel"; "climate change"; "renewable fuels standards"; "S.517"; "Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act"; "LAD@hunton.com";
3. Communications, records, or documents received or sent by staff of the EPA related to the 7/20/2017 Hunton & Williams LLP Lobbying Disclosure form (attached) containing the following terms: "motor vehicle fuel"; "climate change"; "renewable fuels standards"; "S.517"; "Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act"; "LAD@hunton.com".

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. CIC is entitled to a fee waiver because it is a news media organization and because this request for records concerns activities or operations of the government. Disclosure of the requested records will likely increase public understanding of government operations since CIC has the ability and the intention to effectively convey the information contained within the requested records to a broad public audience. Founded in 2014, CIC’s investigative research and reporting has appeared in local and national publications such as the New York Times, the Huffington Post, and the Washington Post. In addition to using the information from this request to generate news stories, CIC would distribute information obtained and inform the public at large through various online platforms (such as http://climateinvestigations.org/).

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I'm reaching out to (1) reply to the Dec 7, 2017, denial letter of request number EPA-HQ-2018-001696 and (2) refine the HQ-2018-001696 request.

In regards, to the denial letter, I'd like to set up a time to discuss this matter further over the phone. Please let me know of your earliest availability to have a call.

I'd like to refine the HQ-2018-001696 request to the following: All communications exchanged since January 1, 2017, between staff within the EPA's Office of Air & Radiation and any individual using the following email domain address @hunton.com.
