I am appealing the decision to not search for the files that I requested and to instead only release previously released documents. I would have stated if I wanted the search limited in such a way.

DOJ-AP-2016-002046 has been processed with the following final disposition: Completely reversed/remanded.

  • Best, Michael, AP-2016-002046, FBI, Remand, Appeal response letter

From: Federal Bureau of Investigation

A letter stating that the request appeal has been received and is being processed.

From: Federal Bureau of Investigation

A letter stating that the request appeal has been rejected.

From: Michael Best

1. You are required by the OIP to search for new records, and you sent a letter stating that you were performing a new search. Now you are refusing to do any search. Explain why.
2. Even IF the records sent are EVERYTHING, you must re-review and reprocess ALL located pages for releasable material - including reprocessing all the redactions, even if all pages located were previously released.

From: Michael Best

My appeal was granted, yet it seems that FBI refuses to perform the search ordered by OIP.

I am appealing this.
