From: King County Defenders Office

Hello Mr. Clemans. Thank you for your request. I am responding to you on behalf of the King County Executive Branch only per KCC 2.12.005 and 2.12.230(B). I am not sure what records you are seeking from the King County Executive Branch. Your request seems to be centered around police contact with an individual. The King County Executive Branch does not contain a police agency, and you would need to request police records from the involved police agencies. If that is the King County Sheriff's Office, you will need to make your request directly to that agency and can do so at the following link:

https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/sheriff/services/public-disclosure/online-requests.aspx

You also mention court records and charging decisions. Those records are also not records kept by the King County Executive Branch. Court records are kept by the individual courts that matters are held in, and they are not covered by the Washington State Public Records Act. Charging decisions are generally kept by prosecutorial agencies, and the King County Executive Branch does contain a prosecutorial agency.

The King County Executive Branch does contain correctional facilities and programs. However, inmate records are exempt from disclosure pursuant to RCW 70.48.100. We can see if we have any nonexempt jail records regarding this person if you are seeking those.

Can you please clarify what records you are seeking from the King County Executive Branch? I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

Shelby Miklethun
