This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

• The manual that this FOIA office uses to process FOIA requests, or, if no manual exists, other guiding documentation/protocols for processing Freedom of Information Requests.

• All guides to agency Freedom of Information Act request regulations (For reference, see the Department of Justice's Guidance on FOIA Regulations [https://www.justice.gov/oip/oip­guidance/guidance­agency­foia­regulations] and the associated template [https://www.justice.gov/oip/template­agency­foia­regulations])

• All guidelines and regulations regarding the submission and processing of appeals, including but not limited to:
- ­ The appropriate person or position to whom an appeal should be submitted
­ - The appropriate address to which an appeal should be submitted
­ - Any appropriate fax numbers and email addresses available for the submission of appeals ­ All guidelines regarding the processing time and procedures for appeals
­- All rights related to the submission of appeals, including those related to appeal rights for constructive denial

If any responses include direction to an online location or similarly publicly-available material, please provide direct links or file downloads.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I researched our FOIA log and my email and could only find your correspondence dated 9/19/16. It appears that we never received the initial correspondence dated 3/28/26. We should have contacted you in 2016 to let you know we had not received the original request.

We will add this request to our log for FY18 and provide you with the number assigned and the estimated completion date. Due to our error, I will waive any fees.

This e-mail is in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests (2018-275F and 2019-203) submitted to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2018 and 2019 respectively. 2018-275F requested for "The manual that this FOIA office uses to process FOIA requests or, if no manual exists, other guiding documentation, All guides to agency FOIA request regulations, all guidelines and regulations regarding the submission and processing of appeals."

2019-203F requested for "budget materials or plans applicable to offices responsible for processing and responding to FOIA requests and appeals submitted to this Bureau and its offices for the years 2017-2019. Staffing reports and plans, including the count of employee numbers and for offices responsible for processing and responses to FOIA requests, All staffing reports and plans for the year 2019, Contact information including email addresses and phone numbers (if available), for each FOIA officer currently tasked with an open public records request. For the years 2017 and 2018, the designated category of each requester of a FOIA request to this office, including those assigned to the following categories: commercial, educational and noncommercial, representative of news media requester, all other requesters. For the years 2017 and 2018, the number of fee waivers granted by this office and if available, the tracking numbers for the FOIA requests to which waivers were granted. For the years 2017 and 2018, any report capturing this information: total estimated processing and copy fees quoted to FOIA requesters, if this information is kept in an aggregate form, this satisfies this bullet point as well, FOIA tracking information, requester fee category, amount processing and copy fees associated with the request, status of requester's payment for the request."

We are currently processing a voluminous number of FOIA requests in backlog status and we are sorry for the delay. At this point, we are ready to continue to process your request. Due to the length of time, we are wondering if you are still interested in your request?
