Alternative Response to 2:

Such a description will allow us to better understand the parameters of this FOIA office’s ability to respond to this request as worded and will better enable us to reorganize and limit it as appropriate.

-----

Additional clarification:

This request is not intended for materials regarding one particular subject or event during this period.

If a different search procedure will be required dependent on segment of time covered, it would be greatly appreciated if a response could contain a description of the necessary difference in approach by time period (for example, if file keeping procedures have changed at some point in the last year and a half or if particular materials have been moved to another location).
_________

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Beryl Lipton

Robin:

Pls see below email.

I have copied the address of the sender of this email so that, if it is a legitimate FOIA request, the requester knows it has been forwarded to you.

Frankly, I don't know if it is a legitimate request, as the "March Madness" piece of the subject line suggests this may be SPAM or Phishing or other nefarious email. Additionally, it is next to impossible to determine what is requested because the language is quite unusual and seems to ask for an extraordinarily broad swath of records. If it is a genuine FOIA request, you or another activity likely will need to clean it up considerably in order to properly resolve it.

In any case, it does not belong to this office, and I have no idea to what activity it would belong if, in fact, it is legitimately a FOIA request. I defer to you. Note that I have included OJAG here because, if it is legitimately a FOIA request, OJAG may be in support of PAO if, in fact, PAO is the proper activity to handle it.

Thank you so much for your letter. This is, indeed, a legitimate request. I apologize for the confusion. Please let me know if I should redirect it or if Ms. Patterson will be handling it.

Thanks so much for your patience and help.

Best wishes,
Beryl

Good Morning Ms. Lipton,

I hope all is well with you this morning. This email is in regards to your FOIA request 2018-005749 which you requested Any and all talking points and similar memorandums, emails, and transcripts providing advice or direction on how to handle the media, media interviews, and statements. I spoke with the Navy agency that would have responsive records for your request. It was explained to me that your request is too broad of a request to respond to. That Navy agency would like for you to narrow your request down to a specific talking point that you wish to request. The office in which I speak of handles ALL talking points for the Navy and it would be impossible to provide you all talking points from that office. If you could please email me back and let me know how you would like to proceed in narrowing your request and we will expedite the process of your request and provide you with the responsive records you are requesting. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
