Mr. Cameron,

I have contacted the Case Analyst and requested an estimated completion date for your case. The Analyst will contact the bureaus doing the searches and the individuals reviewing the material. This will take some time because each case is different. The search and review time varies. The time depends on the complexity of information requested and the time it takes to review the material.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have further concerns or any questions regarding any FOIA-related matter, please contact the FOIA Requester Service Center (FRSC) at (202) 261-8484, or fax us at (202) 261-8582 or send an e-mail to foiastatus@state.gov

Mr. Cameron,

The Analyst working on this case wants to relay a message to you concerning this request:

“Hello Mr. Cameron—An assessment of your request has been completed with the findings that the scope of the request and the timeframe of 2000 to the present is too broad. We’re asking that you please narrow the scope of your request. Please describe exactly what you are looking for, i.e., world cup preparations or event security or allegations of corruption. We also ask that you narrow the timeframe to five years or less. Thank you.”

Please send a reply and include the case number. When you do we will forward it to the Analyst.

Dear Dell Cameron,

This is in reference to your email dated March 24, 2016 inquiring about the status of your Freedom of Information Act request.

As mentioned in our reply dated March 25, 2016 we have contacted the office that is processing your request. They have informed us that the estimated completion date (ECD) for your case is October 2016.

ECDs are subject to change and are "strictly" estimates and not intended to be used as "actual" dates of completion, due to various extenuating factors, which are beyond the control of the Branch, which may or may not include coordination with other Agencies during the process (referrals, concurrences, etc.). Interim release dates are provided, as applicable.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have further concerns or any questions regarding any FOIA-related matter, please contact the FOIA Requester Service Center (FRSC) at (202) 261-8484, or fax us at (202) 261-8579 or send an e-mail to foiastatus@state.gov.

Dear Mr. Cameron,

I am beginning to review documents identified in response to your request regarding FIFA. A number of the identified documents are media summaries. There are two types, the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service summaries of the US press from the wire services and media summaries from local press complied by our Embassies. Please let me know if you would like to receive either.

Sincerely,

Mr. Morford,

Regarding #F-2015-10510

Apologies. I left this request unattended and did not realize it was regularly sending automatic ECD requests. I would like to receive the press summaries, but only if that doesn't extend the period of review. (If they are open-source material, I'm sure I can locate them online.)

I received your ECD of October 2016. If you could let me know if this changes at all, that would be appreciated. Otherwise, if there's anything I can do to help, feel free to email (dell@dailydot) or call me (469-387-1810) at any time.

I appreciate your assistance.

From: Dell Cameron

I received an email last year regarding #F-2015-10510 which said I would begin receiving records in October 2016. I have not received a single record in response to my request so far. Please advise whether we will begin receiving records immediately or whether we should proceed to litigation over this matter.

Thank you,

From: FOIA Status

Dear Dell Cameron,

We have been asked to reply to your email of January 9, 2017 to the Compliance and Research Branch assigned to your case regarding your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request number F-2015-10510.

We have been informed that the initial review has been completed and that it is pending clearances and senior review. As soon as the clearances and the senior renews are completed, the records can be released. The estimated completion date (ECD) for this case is April 30, 2017. Please note that ECDs are subject to change and are "strictly" estimates. They are not intended to be used as "actual" dates of completion, due to various extenuating factors, which are beyond the control of the Branch, which may or may not include coordination with other Agencies during the process (referrals, concurrences, etc.). Interim release dates are provided, as applicable.

It is the policy of the Department of State to provide all releasable material as soon as the search and review process has been completed. You will receive a substantive response when your request is fulfilled, denied in part or denied in full. The Department provides interim responses in FOIA cases instead of waiting until all processing is completed. Therefore, you may receive more than one substantive response on a rolling basis.

We hope this information is helpful. If you have further concerns or any questions regarding any FOIA-related matter, please contact the FOIA Requester Service Center (FRSC) at (202) 261-8484, or fax us at (202) 261-8579 or send an e-mail to foiastatus@state.gov.
