From: Daniel Tait
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
All electronic records in the possession of individuals located in the Office of Energy Market Regulation (OEMR) and the Office of External Affairs (OEA) received from or sent to individuals associated with the following organizations:
- Southern Company
- Alabama Power
- Mississippi Power
- Cooperative Energy
- Alabama Municipal Electric Authority
- PowerSouth
Electronic records should include emails (both sent and received), email attachments, text messages, and any other electronic records.
The timeframe of this public records request is between January 1, 2017 and the June 1, 2018.
The organization I work for, the Energy and Policy Institute (EPI), is a clearinghouse of information and can qualify as a representative of the news media. There are several examples of public record requests provided to EPI that were published on our website to inform journalists publishing articles. Additionally, federal agencies have previously categorized FOIAs from the Energy and Policy Institute under Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 1004.9(b)(3) as a "news media" requester and have determined that we satisfy the criteria considered for a waiver of fees.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Daniel Tait
