To Whom It May Concern:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
I am seeking documents (maybe 302s) and audio footage (known to exist) or transcripts of such, of an FBI interview of myself (Derek Jennings Underwood), with members of the Gadsden Minute Men militia group, which occurred in late July 1996 at a Shoney’s restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama. Among those present were William Michael Kemp (known commonly as Mike Kemp), Richard Hayward, and Dale Otts. Principle FBI agent in charge of the interview I believe was Steve Brannon. The FBI had shortly before the interview declared Derek Underwood as the primary suspect in the Olympic Park Bombing, which was the originating reason for the interview. Within about 24 hours of the interview newspapers reported that the FBI officially “dropped” Derek Underwood as a suspect and immediately turned their attention to Richard Jewel, a security guard on scene at the Olympic Park.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
A fix is required to perfect the request.
