Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
I request an electronic copy of all FBI files on William Hodding Carter III, a newspaper editor who served as President Jimmy Carter's press secretary. He died in May 2023. This is his obituary: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/12/us/hodding-carter-dead.html
According to news reports he was born on April 7, 1935, in New Orleans.
I request that your agency conduct a full CRS search, as well as a cross reference search, to retrieve records related to this prominent American.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
