To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

The email messages to the immigration judges mentioning the words “FOIA” or “Skype” for 2018.

To complete the search the agency should search the messages sent to the “All of IJs” group email address as well as the email accounts of the ACIJs for the words “FOIA” and “Skype”

It is unlawful to have the email custodians perform their own searches. If the agency has any questions about the scope of this request or the intent, please let me know. I am a member of the news media working on an article about Immigration Judge and staff use of Skype chat to avoid FOIA detection.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Matthew Hoppock
