05/19/2016 02:52 PM FOIA Request: EPA-R1-2016-005253
Dear Mr. Craven,
I wanted to follow-up on my emails from Thursday, May 12, 2016 and Friday, May 13, 2016 regarding your March 31, 2016 FOIA request, as I have not received a response from you.
At this point, EPA has determined that there is no need for clarification regarding the scope of your FOIA request. EPA has also determined there are multiple personnel in multiple offices within EPA Region 1 that may have responsive records to your FOIA request. In order to conduct the necessary search for and review of responsive records, EPA needs additional time to process your FOIA request. EPA expects that it will be able to process your request in its current form by Wednesday, June 15, 2016, but EPA will provide the responsive records sooner if the processing is completed at an earlier date.
If it is determined that there will be any billable charges to you for processing the FOIA request, I will contact you in advance for written payment assurance.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss further. Thanks.
Regards,

05/25/2016 02:50 PM FOIA Request: EPA-R1-2016-005253
Mr. Craven,
The costs associated with processing your request will exceed the $25 originally authorized. I have been informed by our staff that they are estimating costs to be at least $350. At this time we will need to receive written payment assurance from you, up to this amount, in order for us to process your request. A simple email back to me is sufficient. Your request will be placed on hold pending your reply. If no response is received by June 15, 2016 we will assume you are no longer interested in the requested information and your case will be administratively closed out.
If costs are expected to exceed this estimate you will be notified in advance in order to allow you to provide additional payment assurance. If you have questions regarding this estimated amount please contact Attorney Kevin Pechulis at pechulis.kevin@epa.gov or 617-918-1612. (mailto:pechulis.kevin@epa.gov)
Sincerely,
Cris Schena, R1 FOIA Officer, schena.cristeen@epa.gov (mailto:schena.cristeen@epa.gov)
