Mr. Peck,

This email is in reference to your above filed FOIA request with the DOE. Please be advised that in order to process your request you will need to provide us with an amount you are willing to pay in fees. As an "other" requester, you are entitled to two free hours of search time and 100 pages at no cost. However, any time spent searching for responsive records over the two hours will require a fee agreement. In the alternative, you can limit your search time to just the two free hours. Please provide us with this information by 10/28. Thank you

I do not understand why processing my request requires knowing how deep my pockets are, but rest assured, I will pay any price to obtain materials responsive to this request! A second mortgage or a Klondike bar not beyond means reasonable if required. Please advise...

From: Pervaiz, Mohammad (CONTR)

Thank you for the prompt reply. I have noted that you are willing to pay all fees.

From: Martin Peck

Thank you for responding quickly and with courtesy to the fee inquiry. Please let me know if any other details are needed for request processing.

Dear Mr. Peck,

Your inquiry (below) has been forwarded to me. I reached out to the SME the other day for a status on your request. The SME informed me that your request is currently being reviewed at the office of Classification, and that they will get back to me with a status update. With cases that are reviewed at Classification, it is almost impossible to give a time frame. I will follow up with them again towards the end of this week. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you for your patience.

Have a great day,

Aykut

Dear Mr. Peck,

I checked the status of your case, and it is still with Classification. Please note that as we previously indicated, it is very hard to give a time frame with cases in Classification.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Dear Mr. Peck,

Your case is still with Classification and we are waiting for them to finish their review. I just wanted to clarify the time frame, however. We have not indicated that this case would be closed by March 1. Our previous communications, referenced below, indicate that it is impossible to give a timeframe for cases that are with Classification.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Aykut

Good Afternoon Mr. Peck,

Last week we sent you the first 100 pages of the responsive documents in your case. There are approximately 800 pages left in the responsive documents and they are currently being processed.

Would you be willing to close this request under this request number and reopen it under a new number? If I reopen the case early next week it will be the beginning of the new fiscal year and your case will receive a new number and will remain a top priority. As it stands now, your case will likely be considered a back log because it will be difficult to complete by the end of the week.

Please let me know if this is agreeable to you.

Thank you,
