Dear Mr. Von Struckmann,
This is in response to your January 3, 2022, Freedom of Information Act
request 22-38873 about “any and all information pertaining to a former
German possible officer in the SS or German Army during WW2, he moved to
the US post war and worked with other Germans involved in rocket research,
was possibly naturalized as a US citizen following he lived in Canada until
his death in 1981”. We received your request on May 5, 2022.
Your request consists of a stated topic rather than a name or a description
of specific documents, and therefore is not reasonably specific enough for
us to be in a position to easily locate documents responsive to your
request.
We do not consider this response a denial under the Freedom of Information
Act because we cannot determine without more specific information whether
the records you have requested exist.
You may appeal in writing, within 60 days of receipt of this letter, to the
Deputy Archivist (ND), National Archives at College Park, 8601 Adelphi
Road, College Park, Maryland, 20740-6001, and explain why you think our
search does not meet the requirements of the FOIA. Both the appeal letter
and the envelope should be marked “Freedom of Information Act Appeal,” and
you should refer to our case number.
You may also e-mail your appeal to foia@nara.gov. Please note "Freedom of
Information Act appeal" in the subject line of your e-mail and be sure to
include your case number.
This concludes the processing of your request.
Sincerely,
Mr. R. E. Cookson, Archivist
Textual Records (RR2RR)

College Park, Maryland
