Hello Mr. Hardy,

Thank you for your response to my FOIA request for "Any materials included in employee handbooks and communications related to the required, appropriate, and recommended attire of the various employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and its field offices."

Unfortunately, the denial that was issued to me was in response to "a recommendation on how to request the dress code requirements for FBI field offices and divisions." In the hopes of making easier the search in your office for the desired information, I did make an informal inquiry to representatives of your office via telephone and via email into how best to phrase my request; however, the recommendation I received was to submit a formal FOIA request, and that recommendation was followed. Accordingly, my request was not for a "recommendation" but rather, it was a specific request for the codes of attire that have been outlined in official directives to employees of the FBI across its offices.

I must insist that my request be reconsidered, as it was not properly interpreted.

Thank you for your time.

All the best,
Beryl C.D. Lipton
