Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
1. All emails sent to and from Attorney General Garland that includes, but is not limited to the following words: “defamation”, “Trump”, “E. Jean Carroll”, and “rape allegation” (Date of search: January 20, 2021 to current date)
2. All communications (electronic and physical) from The White House ( including the eop.gov email domain) that includes, but is not limited to the following words: “defamation”, “Trump”, “E. Jean Carroll”, and “rape allegation” (Date of search: January 20, 2021 to current date)
3. All memos that were prepared that includes, but is not limited to the following words: “defamation”, “Trump”, “E. Jean Carroll”, and “rape allegation” (Date of search: January 20, 2021 to current date)
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Good morning Mr. Gamez,
This is concerning your above referenced request for various communications concerning the defamation lawsuit of E. Jean Carroll against Donald Trump.
Regarding parts 1 and 2 of your request, I have begun to review our search results. Much of the material is technically responsive as it contains the terms in your request, but it is NOT about Ms. Carroll's lawsuit. Specifically, there are many items that contain the terms "defamation," "Trump," or "rape allegation" that are not about E. Jean Carroll but are in fact about many diverse and varied subjects. To facilitate our response, would you agree to the following:
* Eliminate all communications that are not about the defamation lawsuit brought by Ms. Carroll
* Eliminate forwarded news articles and "daily clips" (Daily clips are collections of news articles from around the country that are sent list-serve style to DOJ personnel but do not contain commentary from any DOJ offices)
Regarding part 3 of your request which seeks "All memos that were prepared that includes, but is not limited to the following words: "defamation", "Trump", "E. Jean Carroll", and "rape allegation."" Could you clarify: Are you seeking all memos from the Office of the Attorney General concerning the defamation lawsuit of E. Jean Carroll?
