Mr. Roberts:

Im following up on my recent email to discuss the scope of your request.

After carefully considering your request, this Office has determined that your request would require the Civil Division to conduct an unreasonably burdensome search. The FOIA does not require agencies to conduct wide-ranging, unreasonably burdensome searches for records. The determination that your request would require a burdensome search is based on your request for all records produced by and for operation choke point.

If you would like to narrow the scope of your request, please respond within twenty days of the date of this letter detailing how you would like to narrow your request. You may contact this office by email at Civil.Routing.FOIA@USDOJ.gov or by fax at (202) 302-3291. You may also write to me at U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, c/o Angie E. Cecil, Room 8016, 1100 L Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20530.

Once the scope of the request is reasonable, this Office will proceed with processing your request. If we do not receive a response by Friday, September 8, 2017, we will consider your request closed.

Thank you
