To Whom It May Concern:
I wanted to follow up on the following Freedom of Information Act request, copied below, and originally submitted on Jan. 16, 2022. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.
From: Department of Justice, National Institute of Corrections
Good evening.
The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) did not receive the initial request that you referred to in your email below.
As NIC is organizationally placed within the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice, all of the Freedom of Information Act requests must be formally requested and documented through the Bureau of Prisons. The most expedient manner to do this is through the website below, which provides a form to fill out and submit online:
https://www.bop.gov/foia/index.jsp#tabs-5
Once your request is submitted, it is processed through the BOP's FOIA office and sent to NIC for a response within proscribed timeframes. There is also a FAQ and information section, which should address any basic questions that you have about the process.
Sincerely,
Shaina
