I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Good afternoon,

In response to your request for the status of your request, I contacted
the
agency now processing your request. They, (DARPA) indicated that upon
receipt of
your request, it was placed in DARPA's queue in line with earlier Freedom of
Information Act requests received by their Office for processing. DARPA
relayed
to me that they will provide this Office with a follow-up response
indicating an
estimated date of when they expect to complete your request. After
receiving
DARPA's updated response, I will provide you with additional updates to your
request.

I have contacted the Office and personnel responsible for conducting a
search for records which may be responsive to your request. No further
clarification has been requested from you. I can advise you that the
DARPA's
FOIA Office recently located which may contribute to a delay in the
processing
of FOIA case. Additionally, each FOIA request received at DARPA is placed
in
their processing queue, and is processed on a first come first process
basis,
and your request fall within that category.

I wanted to provide you a follow-up response to your recent
inquiry regarding the status of your request. I was informed by
the action officer responsible for completing the search for
records which may be responsive your request that that estimated
completion date of for your case is 11 August, 2012.

If your case is completed prior to that date, we will contact
you. There is no additional requirement needed from you at this
time. As was stated below, a contributing factor in the delay in
processing your case could be the recent re-location by DARPA.

Good afternoon,

I have received a response regarding your FOIA request from a component
within the Office of the Secretary of Defense tasked with searching for
material which may be responsive to your request. The result of the search
was no records. However, this office has additionally tasked a component
within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy to search for
records you describe in your request.

When an estimated date of completion is received, and or search results
are received from that search effort we will contact you.
