Good Morning Mr. Gulledge,

This email is in reference to your Freedom of Information Act Request which
you filed on July 20, 2013, asking for documents that contain any findings
related to the drug mefloquine or Lariam. Your request has been assigned
case number FOIA-2014-00053.

Your request asks specifically for documents that cite adverse effects of
the aforementioned drugs. This Office is responsible for processing all FOIA
requests for access to records maintained by the Department of Defense,
Office of the Inspector General (DoDIG). While the DoDIG performs
investigations we would not originate any documents responsive to your
request.

The most recent interest regarding these drugs and the DoD concern
allegations of their use as a mind-altering drug to facilitate
interrogations of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. An Investigation was
performed by the DoD IG, and the report was reviewed and released. You can
find it at this web link:
http://www.dodig.mil/FOIA/ERR/09-INTEL-13_Redacted.pdf .

Please let me know if this report fulfills your request. If you are not
satisfied, please specify what kinds of documents (eg: audits,
investigations, ect..) the DoD IG produces in which you are interested, so
we can perform a proper search.

You can reach me at this email address or by phone at 703-601-5917 if you
have any questions, or to discuss your request.

V/R

-Jason
