To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

All correspondence with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) regarding its examination of internal control deficiencies in the Defense Logistic Agency's Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) — also known as the 1033 program.

As I am submitting this FOIA request in my capacity as a reporter who covers defense, the Defense Department and the 1033 program, I assert that I am appropriately categorized as a media requester for the purpose of fees. I would be happy to provide examples of articles I have written about the 1033 program, in particular. Furthermore, given the considerable public interest in the 1033 program, as evidenced not only by my reporting but also by the interest that led President Obama to modify the program in 2016, I request that any processing fees be waived.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
