Communications
From: Jordan
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
I am requesting all documents related to the hacking group LulzSec from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), including any communication logs between the FBI and other federal or international agencies, such as British intelligence agencies.
In particular, I am requesting any documents related to the following:
The FBI's investigation of LulzSec's hacking activities, including any incident reports, technical analyses, or other documentation related to specific attacks attributed to LulzSec.
Communication logs between the FBI and other agencies or organizations regarding LulzSec, including any emails, memos, or other forms of correspondence that contain the following key strings: "LulzSec," "hacking group," "cyber attack," or "data breach." Specifically, I am requesting any communication logs between the FBI and British intelligence agencies, such as MI5 or GCHQ.
Any information related to LulzSec's methods of operation, targets, or objectives, including any intelligence reports or other documentation that provide insights into the group's activities.
Any information related to the FBI's efforts to identify and apprehend members of LulzSec, including any arrest warrants, extradition requests, or other legal documents related to the group.
LulzSec was a notorious hacking group that was active in the early 2010s and was responsible for several high-profile cyber attacks on government agencies, corporations, and other organizations. I believe that the FBI's investigation of this group is of significant public interest, and the release of the requested documents would provide valuable insights into the FBI's efforts to combat cyber crime and protect national security.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Jordan

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to appeal the redactions made in response to my previous Freedom of Information Act request for documents related to the hacking group LulzSec. While I understand that certain information may be exempt from disclosure under the Act, I believe that some of the redactions in the documents provided to me were improper.
Specifically, I believe that the redactions made under exemption (b)(7)(E) were overly broad and did not meet the requirements of the Act. This exemption allows for the withholding of law enforcement records that would disclose techniques and procedures for law enforcement investigations or prosecutions, but only to the extent that disclosure would risk circumvention of the law. However, some of the redactions made under this exemption were not related to specific law enforcement techniques or procedures, but instead seemed to be made simply to avoid embarrassment or to protect the FBI's reputation.
I would therefore like to request that you reconsider the redactions made under exemption (b)(7)(E) and provide me with any non-exempt portions of the documents that were previously redacted. If necessary, I am willing to work with you to narrow the scope of my request or to provide additional information that may assist you in determining whether certain information is exempt from disclosure.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Jordan
