Communications
From: Christopher Tidmarsh
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Any and all records of communications between Attorney General William Barr and others inside the Department of Justice between February 10, 2020 and the date this FOIA request is processed (inclusive of those dates) in which Mr. Barr discusses Roger Stone or the current criminal case against Mr. Stone. Specifically, I am looking for any discussion inside the Justice Department in which Mr. Barr mentioned his dissatisfaction with the length of the prison sentence that Justice Department prosecutors recommended for Mr. Stone, and his disagreements with others inside the Justice Department who believed the prosecutors' recommended length of the prison sentence was justified.
Roger Stone is a former political consultant and former adviser to President Donald Trump who has worked for the campaigns of several Republican presidential candidates, including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole, and Donald Trump. In January 2019, Mr. Stone was arrested and charged with "one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering," according to the following article in Bloomberg News:
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Christopher Tidmarsh
