This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
Any and all transcripts, notes, memos, directives, or other available materials regarding and capturing statements made during the roundtable held by Director Comey with reporters regarding the FBI's investigation of Hillary Clinton's emails. According to the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/12/us/politics/hillary-clinton-emails-fbi-james-comey.html) and multiple other publications, the Director spoke on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. In part he stated:
“I don’t tether to any particular external deadline,” he said during a round-table discussion with reporters, “so I do feel the pressure to do it well and promptly, but as between the two, I always choose ‘well.’”
I respectfully ask that this request be expedited, primarily due to the timeliness of the conversation and the relevance of the inquiry to the current presidential elections.
If expedition is granted, this request may be limited to the meeting's transcript and any other notes taken in an official capacity during its duration, so as to make access to and provision of responsive materials most quick and easy.
This request is being made as part of a journalistic inquiry. As your office is aware, MuckRock is a news organization that focuses on the use of FOIA in its development of news stories. As such the requested documents will also be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
