To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
I would like copies of all tweets deleted by the National Park Service’s Twitter Feed (@CavernsNPS) from November 2013 to the present. This would include any tweets sent out on Twitter that were deleted or kept in draft form from the Twitter account @CavernsNPS. This request also would include copies of any e-mails or correspondence regarding the drafting and deletion of these tweets.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I am a journalist whose works have appeared in Slate, VICE, the Massachusetts Review, Kill Screen, and elsewhere. This FOIA request is part of research for an ongoing piece of journalistic work, and as such, I am requesting a fee waiver. I have submitted versions of this FOIA request to other agencies, including the Office of Government Ethics, and in the process, I have been granted this fee waiver without question. My most recent article on this subject appeared in Slate in April 2018 and was titled “Can They Really Delete That?”.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,
Muira McCammon

Hi,

We still have 17 FOIA requests ahead of yours. I apologize for the delay
but we must process on a first-in first-out manner and we have some large
requests holding up the ones further below. Because this FOIA is fairly
simple I can move it to the simple track so that it gets moved up and
processed as quickly as possible. I will be glad to let you know when we
have an update. I appreciate your patience.

Thanks,

-Alison

Hi Ms. McCammon,

I apologize - I have had quite a few exceptional/voluminous/normal track
requests ahead of yours. I believe that I can get this out to you this
week if it remains in thew same format - which is why I have a question for
you - the way in which the park was able to grab the tweets is in html code
(Cascading style sheets for the raw data) and also a spreadsheet of all the
tweets. I believe that we are looking at a release in full but I didn't
want to deliver this to you and have you be surprised that it doesn't
"look" like twitter. Is this OK? I was thinking that I can go ahead and
release the info to you and if it doesn't suffice you can let me know to go
back to the park to see if they can provide the info in a different way.
Does that work?

Thanks so much for your patience.

-Alison
