Mr. Szoldra,
In your request you seek the Individual Deceased Personnel File (IDPF) for Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak. I have been informed IDPF is a term from earlier conflicts that is no longer used. As such, I will need more information clarifying what records you are seeking. Please reply no later than Oct. 5, 2021. If I do not receive your response by that date, I will consider that you are no longer interested in this information and close this request. If the clarifying information becomes available after that date, you may file a new FOIA request at that time.
Very respectfully,

From: United States Marine Corps
Mr. Szoldra - Good morning. I have contacted the USMC Casualty Branch and
they have informed me that Individual Deceased Personnel Files (IDPF) were
generated for deceased members serving from 1939 to 1975. Consequently, the
specific files requested do not exist.
Would there be some other record you would be searching for, e.g., a
casualty report.
Please let me know. I will hold your request in abeyance until Friday,
October 8, 2021. If I don't hear from you by then I will go ahead and close
the request administratively. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Deanna James

Deanna,
Thanks. I made a mistake and am so glad you asked. Please modify my request. I meant to request the casualty report rather than the IDPF.
Thank you.
