To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

All DEA records mentioning or pertaining to the late Rush Hudson Limbaugh III, commonly known as Rush Limbaugh. An attached obituary shall serve as proof Limbaugh has passed away in 2021; as such, privacy interests recognized under exemptions to FOIA as well as the Privacy Act are diminished, and investigations concerning Limbaugh as a subject are minimally impacted.

To assist in the identification of records, please note the following identifiers:

First five digits of Social Security Number 488-54;
DOB: January 12, 1951;
Date of Death: February 17, 2021.

Further, Limbaugh admitted on October 10, 2003 to extensive use of prescription opioids; he was arrested April 28, 2006 in Florida for doctor shopping. He was also known to have been caught in June 2006 with erectile dysfunction pills that were held prescribed under someone else's name.

Please return a result for a query of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Information System (NADDIS) pointer index to IRFS, using the aforementioned subject's name and (where necessary) accompanying identifying numbers and/or date of birth.

Further, DEA records may be located within the following systems of records (not exclusively): Automated Intelligence Records System (Pathfinder); Investigative Reporting and Filing System (IRFS); Grants of Confidentiality Files (GCF); Operations Files; Automated Records and Consolidated Orders System- Diversion Analysis and Detection System (ARCOS-DADS); Controlled Substances Act Registration Records (CSA); Registration Status-Investigation Records; and Security Files.

If any potentially responsive records have been destroyed and/or transferred to NARA, then I request copies of the destruction or transfer slips as well as any other documentation relating to, mentioning or describing said transfer or destruction, to include but not be limited to confirmation that the DEA has no other copies of said records.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

T. McElwee
