To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

I am seeking records of correspondence with the law firm Venable, LLP and/or Todd Harrison of same. I would like to copies of emails, faxes, or anything that shows substance and evidence of ongoing communications between the Washington D.C. office of the DEA with anyone from Venable, LLP, who represented the Botanical Education Alliance. In the case of phone calls, I am seeking relevant metadata (time of call, length, etc...). The dates of correspondence being sought would run from August 30th 2016 through December 31st, 2016. The subject matter would be the DEA's efforts to emergency schedule kratom and/or kratom in general. I am specifically looking to confirm the statements made in this public document, where Venable claims that such correspondence exists, and further that they were given advanced notice of the DEA's intent to withdraw their effort to emergency schedule kratom:

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

anthony roberts
