To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

All documents dated between January 1, 2016 and July, 1 2019 that provide an updated framework for the implementation, goals, or progress of the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) program.
This would be any updated versions or follow-up versions of the 2015 CVE program, link below:
https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/usao-ma/pages/attachments/2015/02/18/framework.pdf
I would like any and all memorandums, briefs, or guidances that provide an updated framework for the Countering Violent Extremism program, including documents under this program that may not explicitly be named “Countering Violent Extremism.” That would include all grants from the Department of Homeland Security or the Department of Justice that are geared towards reducing radicalization and violent extremism.

This includes all electronic and written correspondence, including email, from both former U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz and current U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling, under the subject matter of “Countering Violent Extremism,” “PEACE grants” or “CVE.”

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Ava Sasani

Hello,

Thank you for your email. I tried to reaching your office at 202-741-5770, but was unable to reach anyone so I left a voicemail.
I would like to amend my request. I will exclude the sentence "This includes all electronic and written correspondence, including email, from both former U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz and current U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling, under the subject matter of “Countering Violent Extremism,” “PEACE grants” or “CVE.” I do not need those emails.

What I do need is the updated version of the 2015 CVE framework, link below:
https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/usao-ma/pages/attachments/2015/02/18/framework.pdf

Any documents like this one between January 2016 and July 2019 that provide an outline of the goals, strategies, and mission of the CVE program (or any similar anti-radicalization grant programs).

I am now only requesting the updated version of the above 2015 USAO-MA document, so I expect a faster response time. I also request that you release responsive documents on a rolling basis.

I've attached the FOIA request edit form you provided below.

Let me know when you can begin releasing responsive document(s).

Thanks,
Ava
